having trouble placing holds

I think there is a problem with the dating system on the library site. I am trying to place a hold for a resource kit and for example when I pull up the calendar and try to reserve it for a date in October, I am given an error message and told that I can't order it because the date has already passed. Instead of the computer knowing that 10 stands for October, it thinks that 10 is the day and the day that I have chosen is the month. Not sure how to fix that! Thanks
